Our Year 5 Teachers Mr Herbert (Tolkien), Mr Hunt (Luther King) and Miss McIllroy (Simmonds) welcome you and along with the following staff members; Mrs Jan Ellis (Higher Level Teaching Assistant), Mr Agombar (Teaching Assistant), Mrs Kulczyk (Teaching Assistant), Mrs Ryland (Teaching Assistant), Mrs Sprogis (Teaching Assistant) and Mrs Williams (Teaching Assistant) very much look forward to getting to know you and your child over the coming year.

The information below will keep you up-to-date with what is happening in class each week and ways in which you can support your child in their learning.  We will also display this page in the classroom windows each week.

ChessKid is an online chess learning and playing zone designed for ages 5-11. Children who have no prior knowledge of chess will be able to learn how to play the game. Those who already know how to play will be able to develop their skills and challenge their friends, while tracking their improvement.

Chess in Schools and Communities (CSC) is a charity that delivers chess activities to over 340 schools nationwide. They have offered free gold ChessKid accounts for your children to use at home (valid until 20th July 2020). To register for your account, simply click on the link below:

Your child’s account will automatically sit in our school’s ChessKid group. CSC will then be able to run chess competitions and activities among our children, and involve them in the tournaments and challenges they are running nationwide.

Please note: if you have more than one child you can use the link multiple times. A different adult email address will be required for each account.

If you need to let us know any information relevant to your child, please write a letter to your child's class teacher.  Additionally, a member of staff is available on the door in the morning for brief messages. Your child's class teacher is usually available for longer chats at the end of the day, or alternatively you can make an appointment with your child's class teacher by contacting the School Office
(01483) 563701 or
Thank you!

We actively encourage all our staff to further their Professional Development by attending internal and external training courses.  When staff attend such courses and they are during the school day, your child’s class will be covered either by another member of our teaching staff, one of our experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) or by a Supply Teacher.

The above cover will also be put in place to cover any sickness/absences.
