Forest School Activities
RECEPTION

|
Reception children visit Forest School bi-weekly and work alongside Mrs Bodian, Forest School Leader. They have an opportunity to:
- Den building
- Treasure hunts
- Fire building and lighting
- Child led learning
- Clay faces
- Leaf Printing
- Mini beast hunts
- Team games
- Maths skills (e.g., measuring, counting)
- Literacy (e.g., forming letters, phonics).

YEARS 1 AND 2
|
Children in years 1 and 2 visit Forest School weekly on a rotating termly basis. They work alongside Miss Chambers, Forest School Leader. The children take part in:
- Scavenger hunts
- Fire building and lighting
- Mini beast hunts
- Pond dipping
- Den building
- Basic whittling skills using carrot peelers
- Literacy (e.g., creative writing, phonics)
- Maths (e.g., counting, reasoning).

YEAR 3

Moving on from their early experiences of Forest School, children in Year 3 work alongside Miss Chambers, Forest School Leader during the Summer term to further enhance their outdoor learning skills. The children are given the opportunity to:
- Whittling – using age appropriate whittling tools.
- The children produce pendants and butter knives
- Woodland management
- Fire building techniques
- Cooking on fire
- Minibeasts hunts / habitats using reference books
- Care of the Environment.
