Progression in Calculations
Parents may like to know that we have produced a really useful document which outlines how Boxgrove teaches written calculations in maths. The document provides a step by step approach for teaching written calculations in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It provides a progression from Level 1 all the way through to Level 5. It also identifies equipment that could be used to support each level calculation.
Anyone may find this document useful as it clearly identifies the next steps for each calculation. Also included, are vocabulary lists for each calculation type - these are particularly useful, allowing children to identify key words that they may meet in written problems.
If you wish to discuss any aspect of this document, please do not hestaite to contact Mrs Collins via the school office.
